DVD’s I’ve Watched In The Last Two Weeks.

I took a rental holiday over the Christmas period then started my rental back up on January 20th. I’ve watched several films since then in varying degrees of depth (the movie plots that is).

One of the first I watched, which I’d been dying to see was There Will Be Blood. OMG, Daniel Day-Lewis plays such an absolute bastard in that film!! And Paul Dano’s performance as evangelical minister Eli was SO powerful – amazing! It’s a long film, weighty to sit through, but worth it. I was a little apprehensive it was going to be all about oil, but it’s more about family dynamics and business and money. It was really good.

Another film I’ve watched recently was Juno. I can see why it was getting cult plaudits. It was such a quirky little thing. A slightly odd subject seeing as adoption hardly ever takes place in the developed world any more, but it had interesting plot developments. Really liked it. And I loved the way Ellen Page played Juno – brilliant!

Another was The Cottage. A Brit sort of horror/com with Andy Sirkis and Reece Shearsmith from The League of Gentlemen in it. It was VERY gory towards the end, but very funny all the way through. And the “bogeyman” in the film – what a seriously creepy f*cking guy!!! Eeewww A rare film that had me both laughing and recoiling in horror at the same time. I loved it!! And there is REALLY strong language too. Jennifer Ellison must have the C word at least 20 times! lol

On Wednesday night I watched Teeth. I’d sort of heard about it through the ‘net and stuff and it sounded so preposterous I *had* to see it. It lived up to all my expectations. It’s about a girl in one of those “Promise” ring-wearing-sex-abstinent religious cults in which you are meant to keep chaste until you’re married. It helps when you have a built-in chastity belt!! Her vajayjay has teeth!! In the 80 minutes that transpire in the film, her vag manages to “bite off” some 3 penises and a set of fingers from a gynaecologist, as well as an implied penis severing at the end of the film. Through the whole film you never actually see her vajayjay. All the prosthetic penises laying about at their points of severance made me laugh though. Especially the last one – for reasons I won’t elude to in case I ruin your viewing “pleasure”! lol It was so trashy, but it made me laugh!

I’ll let you know what other wonders I’ve watched in future posts.

5 Projects (+1)

Thanks Wendishness, I’ll try and do this. Not sure if I can generate 5 projects, might have to cheat an include ones already started.

1. Knit a scarf (that I can actually wear outside, in front of people!).
2. Continue on my diet which started as a NYR.
3. Start an exercise regime (help!).
4. Plan a Spring of day trips utilising the free regional bus travel we won late last year.
5. Take a day trip to London in the spring and do something different to the normal scene while there.

(+1) Live happier and healthier.

My five tags (if I can come up with 5 – maybe one of my projects should be “make more friends”?)…

Kelly
Em Squared
Cheryl (aka Hussey)
Barbs (Bec)

Erm…struggling for a fifth. I might have to pike out on four. Should there not be a time-frame for these things? Well, anyway, number 2 on my list I have to do for some time to come anyway. If it is AT ALL possible in the next 18 months to 2 years, I want to get back to being in a healthy weight range. Or at least just be overweight rather than MORBIDLY OBESE!!

Let’s Get Knitting!

My knitting supplies arrived yesterday and I started off straight away. I got a bit lost at first, then made a hash job at starting with the chenille (which is going to be a little flaky to deal with me thinks – a bit ambitious of me), so switched to starting the cotton yarn.

This is what I’ve done so far…just yesterday.

I didn’t really take in an aspect of what would happen until I thought about it after I’d ordered the supplies. Knitting + cat = curiosity and potential chaos!

This is the shot I took when Chris became over-curious with my knitting…

That was the result of her leaping onto the sofa as I took the photo and obscuring the lens! Thanks Chris!

It took me a while to get the hang of casting on. That was playing with my brain a bit. Then I realised I was doing it wrong! Once I managed a successful cast on, I started a stokinette stitch (1 row of knit, 1 row of purl), just to get me used to knitting again. About 14 rows in, I forgot what stitch to start the next row. I WAS on a purl row, but I was convinced I’d just finished a purl row, so I started another knit row and bodged it a bit, so decided to just change the side of the pattern and continue with knit/purl as I had done.

I’m going to try and make a scarf. Not even sure if I have enough yarn. It might end up being a cravat more than a scarf, we’ll see. I’m just pleased I got the hang of it relatively quickly again 🙂

OMG – You DIRTY Girl!

I think I might have ringworm! I was thinking in my mind it was SO much worse than it is. Thank goodness it’s only another kind of fungal infection. I was thinking I had some kind of horrible lurgy.

I didn’t even know anything was wrong until Em was looking at me funny yesterday. She was looking at my left side and I was like “WHAT!!! What is it?!” She said, “you have a mark on your neck”. I was like “Have I? What’s it look like?” She said, “Like a red circle.” “Shit! Get me a mirror so I can have a look.” And sure enough, there was a red circle on the left side of my neck. “Great” I said, “I’ve probably got ringworm!”

I haven’t had it confirmed but I’m pretty sure it is. Here’s a pic of it.

Pretty, hah? Man, I’m a minger…

Click Click…

I’ve decided to try and take up knitting. I used to do it years ago with my mum. Obviously, I wasn’t the best. I was only about 9 or 10, but I feel brave enough to try it again.

I’ve been wanting to for the past few years now, but didn’t think I could without anyone showing me the ropes again. But thanks to the wonders of the Internet and YouTube, I need worry no longer. There are good little instruction videos on YouTube and I feel like I could get back into it.

Knit and Purl? No probs! lol

I’m just going to start basic. I’ve bought 2 pairs of straight knitting needles and 4 balls of yarn, 2 of chenille and 2 of cotton – I actually can’t wear wool much so I deliberately avoided wool blends.

I’m just going to try and do two scarves initially and see how I get on. I’m getting a little reservedly excited at the idea of trying knitting again. It might stop me biting my nails after all these years too! Doubt it, but at least I’ll be doing something else with my hands while I’m watching TV at night.

I’m getting this coloured chenille…

Despite How It Seems…

I am still alive. I just really haven’t had anything to talk about of late. I’ve just been busy starving myself, hanging around on Blip.fm, getting back into Twitter (I don’t know why either), blended with watching bits of TV and watching all 5 series of Peep Show to bring me up to date.

I am IN LOVE with Peep Show. Can’t believe I never watched it from the start. As Em keeps saying to me, Mark (David Mitchell) and Jeremy (Robert Webb) are probably MORE like David and Rob than we should really think about!

There are some really naughty bits in it though that I love, like Mark bumping into Dobby in the stationery room in series 5 and she gets all moochy with him, gyrating her bum against his crotch and proceeds to make him jiz his trousers! I can’t wait for series 6 now!!

I recorded a programme which we watched last night about Paul (rent-a-gob) Morley and his “journey” through fashion. He spoke to Jarvis Cocker at one point about his fashion style, which inspired my subconscious to have two dreams. One earlier in the night, which I barely remembered about me and Em helping Jarvis buy a new wardrobe of clothes. The other, just before I woke up this morning on Jarvis sending us a letter of thanks for helping him buy his new wardrobe! Daft! I’m always amused when my dreams immediately correlate with something I’ve just done or seen the previous day or night!

I did my back in a few days ago. Don’t know how, but it was KILLING me for like 3 days. Finally it has gotten better and I’m okay again now.

Well, I better be off. I’m trying a new recipe for tea tonight. Hope it’ll be good. It’s a pasta dish.

Howdy Ho Kyle!

As you know, I love my darts. I’ve been watching most of the games all week, following my particular favourites, Martin (Wolfie) Adams and Ted (The Count) Hankey.

I’ve been following Ted for quite a few years now and in the early days I used to refer to him as “Mr. Hankey, the Christmas poo” after the South Park character. It used to give me and Em a little giggle that his name was Hankey…

Well, I haven’t done that for a while, but then I noticed this last night when I was watching…

Media_http1bpblogspot_usznf

I had to wind back the PVR to get the pic. I love how they’ve even added a steaming turd at the end of the sign!! (LOL) What makes it even funnier is that that is Sharon Adams in the foreground to the right side of the sign. It was team Wolfie’s table!!! I can’t work out now if that was meant to be a sign of support or not now, but it SO made me chuckle when I saw it.

I don’t know if you can make it out, but also, on the table is a little Mr. Hankey toy – you might just be able to make out the little Santa hat Mr. Hankey wears?

Oh man, that pic is GOLD!

Even People At The Darts Want To Know

As Pixie-Anne Wheatley on Fast Forward used to say (if you’re Australian, you might get the reference), “It’s the question that’s on the lips and tips of everyone’s thingies”…

Media_http3bpblogspot_zmfkg

Very strange to see the Royal fraternity at the darts last night. Both Mike Tindle (Zara Philips’ squeeze) and Peter Philips were there. Gawd, even the hoi polloi at the darts. How poosh!!

A New Baby David Clip!

I got this two nights ago off a programme on BBC Three called Almost Famous in which they show clips of stars from TV shows, adverts, school productions, etc, shot before they were famous – obviously. This is a different clip from the Dramarama episode Mr T was in WAY back in 1988!

I love baby David! Aaawwww
