My knitting supplies arrived yesterday and I started off straight away. I got a bit lost at first, then made a hash job at starting with the chenille (which is going to be a little flaky to deal with me thinks – a bit ambitious of me), so switched to starting the cotton yarn.
This is what I’ve done so far…just yesterday. I didn’t really take in an aspect of what would happen until I thought about it after I’d ordered the supplies. Knitting + cat = curiosity and potential chaos! This is the shot I took when Chris became over-curious with my knitting… That was the result of her leaping onto the sofa as I took the photo and obscuring the lens! Thanks Chris! It took me a while to get the hang of casting on. That was playing with my brain a bit. Then I realised I was doing it wrong! Once I managed a successful cast on, I started a stokinette stitch (1 row of knit, 1 row of purl), just to get me used to knitting again. About 14 rows in, I forgot what stitch to start the next row. I WAS on a purl row, but I was convinced I’d just finished a purl row, so I started another knit row and bodged it a bit, so decided to just change the side of the pattern and continue with knit/purl as I had done. I’m going to try and make a scarf. Not even sure if I have enough yarn. It might end up being a cravat more than a scarf, we’ll see. I’m just pleased I got the hang of it relatively quickly again 🙂OMG – You DIRTY Girl!
I think I might have ringworm! I was thinking in my mind it was SO much worse than it is. Thank goodness it’s only another kind of fungal infection. I was thinking I had some kind of horrible lurgy.
I didn’t even know anything was wrong until Em was looking at me funny yesterday. She was looking at my left side and I was like “WHAT!!! What is it?!” She said, “you have a mark on your neck”. I was like “Have I? What’s it look like?” She said, “Like a red circle.” “Shit! Get me a mirror so I can have a look.” And sure enough, there was a red circle on the left side of my neck. “Great” I said, “I’ve probably got ringworm!” I haven’t had it confirmed but I’m pretty sure it is. Here’s a pic of it. Pretty, hah? Man, I’m a minger…Howdy Ho Kyle!
As you know, I love my darts. I’ve been watching most of the games all week, following my particular favourites, Martin (Wolfie) Adams and Ted (The Count) Hankey.
I’ve been following Ted for quite a few years now and in the early days I used to refer to him as “Mr. Hankey, the Christmas poo” after the South Park character. It used to give me and Em a little giggle that his name was Hankey… Well, I haven’t done that for a while, but then I noticed this last night when I was watching… I had to wind back the PVR to get the pic. I love how they’ve even added a steaming turd at the end of the sign!! (LOL) What makes it even funnier is that that is Sharon Adams in the foreground to the right side of the sign. It was team Wolfie’s table!!! I can’t work out now if that was meant to be a sign of support or not now, but it SO made me chuckle when I saw it. I don’t know if you can make it out, but also, on the table is a little Mr. Hankey toy – you might just be able to make out the little Santa hat Mr. Hankey wears? Oh man, that pic is GOLD!Even People At The Darts Want To Know
As Pixie-Anne Wheatley on Fast Forward used to say (if you’re Australian, you might get the reference), “It’s the question that’s on the lips and tips of everyone’s thingies”…
Very strange to see the Royal fraternity at the darts last night. Both Mike Tindle (Zara Philips’ squeeze) and Peter Philips were there. Gawd, even the hoi polloi at the darts. How poosh!!Did You Happen To See The Most Beautiful Girl In The World?
Here is a photo of my beautiful niece Madeline and her boyfriend Colin heading off to their school formal last week.
I just wanted to share the photo as she looks so beautiful and her and Colin look so amazing together. Love you Maddie xxASDA Luton’s Improvements and Little Booze Lost.
For five years now, the ASDA store in Luton has been our local supermarket. When we still had a car it was easy for us to go elsewhere and we more often than not shopped at Morrisons or even other ASDA stores instead of our own.
Without a car we’ve had little choice but to shop there. Most of the time we just couldn’t face it and would shop with ASDA online instead. Especially for out main fortnightly shop. Luton’s ASDA was always cramped, lacking in certain items and was just generally an unpleasant shopping experience. Early in the Autumn, the store began an expansion. It made shopping a little inconvenient at times. And at one point the store was closed completely for an EXCRUCIATING 90 hours! But for the last few weeks the store has been finished and fully operational again. I got to see the completed work for the first time today. Wow! What an improvement! A store you finally want to shop in! The isles have been widened and better stocked. There’s now a small pharmacy inside. It was just a much more pleasant shopping experience. You didn’t feel rushed. The store felt roomy. You didn’t feel pushed for time…it was FAB!
We did a stop-gap shop there. We filled up two “old grey-haired lady” shopping trolleys with stuff from the store. A good list of items for just a tad over £50 that’ll see us through probably until the end of next week. It was good. We caught the bus home as we had a lot of stuff (even though we’re only 10 mins from the shop – Em would’ve walked, but it’s a big hill for me). As we were walking from the bus stop, just before the corner to our street, I heard crying – not sobbing – but sort of like yelling. At first, I thought it was a kid, I stopped and looked behind me and there was a cat, running to me, meowing at the top of its lungs! It ran up to me and was just looking up at me meowing so loudly. I bent down and patted it. Then as I went to walk off, it started following me! We encouraged it to follow us. All the way it was meowing. Poor little thing! So we got home with little “Heart-breaker” in tow. Em gave her a bit of Chris’s food and she stayed around, all the time meowing really vocally. We locked Chris away in the bedroom and were trying to console Heart-breaker. She spent the next 4 hours hanging around, meowing really loudly through the door when she was locked out. I was REALLY starting to get worried. Em even took a walk down to the newsagents to see if there were any lost cat notices in the window, to no avail. Eventually poor Heart-breaker seemed to disappear. Hope she’s okay and found her way home, wherever it is?!
She just appeared from nowhere when I first saw her!
The Jay Returned!
Amazing! I never thought I’d see it again, the jay returned to the garden today. Em was taking FOREVER to get the camera ready. He was on the ground for a minute or two, but by the time slowcoach had the camera, he was in the tree.
STILL – we did manage to get two shots. He’s trying to ignore us here! Someone else (pictured below) was EAGERLY watching!Bah Bum-Hug!
Here’s one of a set of Christmas photos of Chrissy in her Santa scarf and hat. She wasn’t very happy about it…
Chrissy says Bah bum-hug!Christmas-themed Shenanigans.
Having just written out the overseas Christmas cards to send off, I got Em to take a picture of me to update on my plurk page. Here are some of the photos that ensued!
This was the final one taken, and the one I chose. This one made me LITERALLY pee myself when I saw it! I had to go up stairs and change my underwear! I just kept thinking “What do *I* look like? A Chinese man?!!! Buddha!” This was a contender for the plurk page. This one I look a bit startled. The red-eye reduction light is WELL bright! This is obviously my “Christmas? Meh!” look! And bah humbug to me!! lol Hope you enjoyed that embarrassing set!David Tennant Is *NOT* God??!
Well, this is shocking news! This person, despite appearances can’t be that much of a fan.
Signed, Angry of Luton! (that’s me by the way, not the person who shopped the photo)
